Isabelle Le Normand

Isabelle Le Normand

Isabelle Le Normand has curated over 30 exhibitions as Director of Visual Arts at Mains d’Œuvres, a nonprofit, multidisciplinary art and performance space in the heart of the Flea Market in Paris. Her shows revolve around collaboration, enthusiasm, admiration, family environments, craziness, mysticism, purity, autodidacts, and amateurs, revealing situations that create strong emotions. She has curated independently in Paris, Bourges, Budapest, and Marseilles, with an exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo scheduled for June 2013.

She has started a new life by creating Courtesy, a commercial gallery co-run with artist Jonathan Bernad, where she will continue to curate. Isabelle became addicted to Los Angeles after an unusual first trip in 2007 which prompted frequent returns. She has three upcoming projects in Los Angeles: two as a curator for Mains d’Œuvres (Paris At Your Home! with Mark Allen of Machine Project; Argote & Bastard Studios with Pilar Tompkins Rivas of 18th Street Arts Center), and one as Courtesy, her gallery, whose exhibition Ma prochaine vie is a single show in three venues (Here is Elsewhere, ForYourArt, and the collection of Danny First).
